Other lovely websites and blogs - BEING UPDATED AUGUST 2016
There are so many great websites, these are just some of my current favourites! If you know of any more, or would like to be featured here, please let me know by adding a comment below. I hope you enjoy looking at these sites as much as I do!
The lifestyle blog of Elsie Larson & Emma Chapman, sisters who own a Beautiful Mess, a women's lifestyle company focused on creating happiness every day through a homemade lifestyle. They share home decor projects, recipes, & crafts, as well as snapshots of their life. Elsie & Emma also teach awesome online courses, have released two APPs as well as two books being published & their own product lines in their online store! The sisters wholly endorse doin'-it-yourself, learning, trying, failing, dreaming big, enjoying the small stuff, & above all else ... embracing imperfection. As they say, 'Life is better when it's a little bit messy'.
Ali Edwards' passion resides in that very special place where the stories and images of life intersect. Designer, blogger, workshop instructor & author of four books about memory keeping, Ali is well known for authentically capturing everyday life with photos & words, & creating memory keeping projects from those moments that pass by in an instant. Guided by simple principles such as not making things more complicated than they need to be, focusing on the things that matter most & embracing imperfection, she believes without a doubt that there's no right or wrong way to do all this, that the real stories are worth telling & there's a whole lot of celebrating to do even in the midst of the challenging pieces of life. A truly beautiful concept and stunning photography!
This website is simply stunning! The amazingly talented artist, Louise Firchau creates the most fascinatingly exquisite designs. I am in awe of her work and not surprisingly, her pieces sell just seconds after they appear - quite literally! I am most definitely going to buy one of her starter kits very soon, but I doubt I will ever be able to produce anything half as detailed as Louise. I also fear that I may become just a little bit addicted to paper cutting… Will keep you posted! Her daily updates on Facebook are also always a delight to read, her humour makes me laugh out loud! 2016 UPDATE: Paper Panda's range continues to expand, with workshops being held and many more accessories of the most popular designs - phone cases, mugs, prints, jewellery and more! I am so pleased to have also bought the kit and now have the paper cutting bug : )
What can I say about this website, other than, 'visit it now'! I was introduced to the magazine (of the same name) by a dear friend of mine, Sarah-Jane. I can not put into words the joy I feel when the postie pops it through my door each month! I savour each and every page and feel thoroughly inspired afterwards! If I want a fix of MM in-between publications, I can visit this website, or grab a copy of Gathered on my iPad! Grab yourself a copy, then sit back and relax with a nice cuppa and slice of cake. The recipe for a perfect, self-indulgent hour or two...
Homemaker is full of creative ideas for your home. Its full of how-to projects, inspiring interiors, recipes for baking, stitching, knitting and crocheting. There are monthly giveaways and competitions as well as interesting articles and upcoming trends. There are also handy links to previous issues project downloads, an area that I frequent regularly - I think I may have to get myself another binder shortly! There's certainly something for everyone in this magazine and website, who wishes to create a beautiful home.

Twenty-something Anna is the makeup maven, product pusher and lacquer lover behind Vivianna Does Makeup; serving up your daily dose of all things beauty with a side order of wit. Accompanied by twice-weekly YouTube videos, she’s friendly, frank and with the ability to spot the next makeup bag must-have a mile off, delivers a compulsive guide to cosmetics with an editorial edge. I really love watching Anna's carefully and professionally edited videos, that are so much more creative than many other lifestyle and beauty bloggers' uploads. I trust Anna's reviews and find her natural yet extremely knowledgeable reviews interesting and highly influential upon my beauty purchase decision making - yep, sorry if your bank account is depleted just a little bit too as a result of lusting after one or two (...okay, more than a few...) rave reviews of Anna's! Well worth a peek... ; )
Lily started her blog in January 2010 while she was at University studying Marketing, Advertising and PR. When it started it was mainly a lifestyle blog but gradually turned into more of a beauty website as her love for all things beauty developed. I really enjoy reading and watching Lily's beauty reviews, styling tips, tutorials and vlogs, via her website and incredibly popular youtube channel - where she frequently demonstrates very creative and slick editing skills. Lily has built up a well-respected online authority and her frank, honest and thorough reviews are both informative, relatable and influential. Lily and Anna (see above) frequently pair up to travel, offer beauty advice and recently began travelling to present 'Beauty Chat Live' sessions around the globe! The two are good friends and complement each other so well, I highly recommend checking out Lily's channel and social media pages, also enjoy watching some of the her and Anna's collaborations!
Mollie & Fred is a family-run business, based in sunny Dorset, that launched in 2010. Mollieandfred.co.uk is their online boutique specialising in stylish homeward and design-led gifts.
Their website is bursting with gorgeous gift ideas for every occasion; new home gifts, wedding gifts, new job gifts, christening gifts and much, much more! They stock some of my favourite UK designer gifts, including: East of India, Gisela Graham, Disaster Designs, Heaven Sends and Sass & Belle to name but a few. Visit this site and I guarantee you will 'ooh' and 'ah' at all of the lovely-ness - you may have to raid your rainy day stash too… : )
This is one of my favourite blogs to peruse over a nice cuppa and is a superb way to wile away half and hour (or so) whilst postponing those tasks that you really ought to be doing. Delilah writes in a really personable manner, giving the reader a glimpse into her life, her beautiful work and home as well as her successes along her journey in building up a small business. Her cross stitch designs are elegant and distinctive and her work has been featured in the 'Mollie Makes Woodland Friends' book. On her site, you can find free downloads of her patterns and of others that she has found of interest. You can also buy other striking patterns, such as a Stag (my personal favourite) and others inspired by nature, as well as cross stitch kits in her online shop. Go and have a gander, Delilah won't disappoint!
At Minerva Crafts you will find the biggest and best selection of fabric, knitting, haberdashery and crafts products in the UK! They also have a blogger network, and a Craft Club where for a small subscription you receive a discount code to redeem against everything you buy! This site is most definitely one to add to your 'favourites' if, like me, you love making 'stuff'!
Workbox features cover as many subjects in needlecrafts, textiles and fabrics as possible, with articles by leading authors & practitioners in their particular subjects.

Wherever possible, advertisements are promoted in the subjects covered to give readers details of suppliers whom they may wish to contact. It is published bi-monthly.
I discovered this wonderful Aladdin's cave of sites recently and it can only be described as 'Heaven for sewing enthusiasts'! It has the most comprehensive guide to just about everything sewing related, with the aptly named ' most useful sewing links ever' page - need I say more about that?! No, but I will! From handling different fabrics, to designing your own fabric prints, sewing machine maintenance and troubleshooting, different seams, sewing patterns, how-to guides, blogs, business tips, local sewing group/shop directory… To name a mere few! I am just a little bit in awe of this superb sewing sanctuary!
I have recently been introduced to this great site as I was contacted regarding a fab info graphic about the history of sewing machines (on my blog), that they thought I may like to share. I am now going to be contributing to their 'How-To Blog' within their website! I'm very much looking forward to this opportunity and I hope that my posts will inspire others to have a go at making their own things using some of Terrys Fabrics. They stock an abundance of beautiful fabrics, as well as ready made curtains, blinds, bedding, rigs and other on trend homeware. They also have lots of useful articles about DIY, measuring guides and interior design; as well as some more wonderful and amusing infographics.

Handmade Charlotte is a wonderful website that is updated daily. On the site you'll find wonderful craft projects, recipes and inspiration. The site would particularly appeal to families (the creator herself being a wife and mother to five children) and has many craft activities for children as well as adults. The site has been named as one of the Top 50 design blogs for Mothers, and rightly so! I certainly feel inspired to create after visiting the site, I love the printable projects too - the only downside being that I have had to create a file in which to store them all! They were cluttering up my workspace, we can't have that, can we?! Be sure to check out 'Handmade Charlotte' for daily inspiration!
‘For the little things in life’ is their motto., with their motivation being to make gorgeous products that bring smiles to people’s faces. To quote from their website, they, "are synonymous with quirky-cool and feminine fun. We offer something for everyone by capturing a classically British sense of style with a contemporary twist. Lovingly crafted, our gifts and home accessories are designed in London and produced worldwide. Better yet, we are proudly affordable". "At Sass & Belle we like to think of ourselves as fashion forward company who are constantly striving to create homeware that is on-trend and exactly what you, our customers, want. Our creative in-house design team are working hard around the clock to produce products that are design-led and utterly adorable" And utterly adorable they are, my wish list just keeps growing and growing....!
Another of my favourite magazines! This magazine has just celebrated it's first birthday, the first of many to come I am sure! It's akin to Mollie Makes, has equally fab craft ideas, inspirational designs, business tips and contributors. I also have a special fondness for their competition prizes, especially after winning one of them! You can read all about my wonderful prize weekend away in my blog and an article on their website. One day, I would love to appear in their magazine too, watch this space, maybe my dream may come true… (Crossed fingers, legs, in fact everything!)
Pinterest is not a site to visit when you only have a short time to browse… However, it is a 'must visit' site for viewing images of just about everything you could possibly wish to see! When you search for a 'keyword' thousands of images pop up, with links to the original website. I love that you can create boards to organise your pins and share them with others at the click of a button. If you have better restraint than me, then your pinning sessions could be brief, however, I defy you not to get hooked!
This site's name pretty much says it all! Here you will find gorgeous home accessories, gifts for the garden, home and kitchen. To wrote from the owners, 'Very Nice Things' is not about plastic fantastic, it's not about what is 'on trend' - we are inspired by a love of good products, excellent service and beautiful design. Our aim is to showcase new talent, find interesting and practical solutions for homeward and to be as socially and environmentally aware as possible (where possible)'. They sell 'the little things you want 'just because', the bigger things that will be the perfect accessory for your home, the practical things that will be a useful addition to your busy life or the simple things that will look beautiful in your garden'.
This beautiful blog created by the lovely Sue Fish, encompasses simplicity, scrapbooking & spirituality. Trained in Graphic Design and Illustration at Bath, Suse has been scrapbooking for a couple of years. She is married to a Methodist Minister-to-be and they have one little girl and two very cheeky kittens. I recently discovered this blog and Suse's beautifully crafted scrapbook pages via her YouTube channel, where you will also find videos showing the process of the creation of these stunning pieces of art. Suse has such a lovely, calming and clear delivery, you can completely lose yourself while watching her creations take shape! I thoroughly enjoy reading each blog post and find that the content frequently resonates with me, I can identify with Suse and am inspired by both her philosophical musings and relatable writing, not to forget her stunning scrapbooking!
Heather has a beautiful website, showcasing a portfolio of all of her wonderful artistic creations, professional Interior Design projects (Heather has graduated from a Bachelor of Applied Interior Design University program), Graphic Design projects - including Typography, illustrations and pattern - as well as paper crafting, scrapbooking, mixed media, stunning photography and clay work. Heather really has an eye for detail and all of her projects reflect her brilliant talent and affinity for design. Heather frequently uploads videos on her YouTube channel (staybeautiful84) and shares her scrapbook pages, books and other craft related endeavours.
I thoroughly enjoy watching these and Heather's friendly and personable personality really comes across. Heather lives in Calgary, Alberta with her husband Andrew. I highly recommend you check out both Heather's website and blog, you can also follow her social media updates on instagram and pinterest, both profiles are 'staybeautiful84'.
Another great blog to have a look at is Attic 24, written by the uber talented Lucy, who lives in the North of England. Lucy is happily married and a mum to three children. Her blogs are always interesting to read and her passion and talent for woollen creations is clearly evident as soon as you see her detailed, vibrant, colourful projects. I am in awe of her wreaths and can't begin to imagine the time they must have taken to plan and make (let alone put together)!
Lucy also blogs about parenting, renovating (her 100 year old Victorian house), baking, sewing, crafting and gardening. If you've ever wondered whether you should try your hand at crocheting, looking at Lucy's blog is sure to encourage you and no doubt at all, you'll soon be 'hooked' - sorry!
Lizzie Lovegood's studio is situated in the beautiful Cornish village of Port Isaac. Her stunning and distinctive art is inspired by the beauty of the sea and the wonderfully ornate streets of Port Isaac and neighbouring areas. In her online store you can buy prints, mugs and other items; some of which are related to the wonderful show, 'Doc Martin' which is filmed here (known as Port Wenn). I particularly like the mug and mug tray gift set which features Mrs. Tishell's Port Wenn pharmacy! You can also read interesting and entertaining diary entries relating to the filming of the show and how it is to be a resident of Port Isaac. I am definitely going to pay the Lizzie Lovegood gallery a visit at some point this year and also hope to work with Lizzie to create some bespoke items : )
If, like me, you're a fan of The Great British Sewing Bee, then you may already be familiar of Tilly Walnes. Tilly is a real inspiration to me as she only began sewing four years ago but since finding fame on the show, she has worked with independent films and film festivals, is inspired by 1960's French cinema and vintage sewing patterns, teaches workshops, has her own book, has her own range of sewing patterns on sale and runs her amazing blog, 'Tilly and the buttons'. Her blog features not only free Learn to Sew tutorials (everything from how to thread your machine to making puff sleeves!) but also downloadable patterns along with step by step photographic instructions - fantastic for beginner dressmakers like me!
I was contacted by this site and asked if I would like my recipes to be featured alongside the 1200,00 other wonderful recipes that can be found here! There are some fantastic recipes along with links to some fantastic food blogs. There are recipes to suit all tastes as well as some Slimming World friendly and other diets (5:2, gluten free, for example) to try out, I have only just discovered the site and have already saved a load of recipes to revisit at another time. Take a look at this site if you fancy cooking something different from your usual menu, also keep your eyes out for my recipes... I best get writing eh?!
Look What Ive Made is the ultimate place to be for crafters to showcase their collection of craft projects (from dressmaking to clay projects and photography). Minerva Crafts (link above) launched this site in July 2013, aimed at crafters as a way to share their crafty makes! It's a fab craft community website where crafters and designers can go to to upload their latest project and receive feedback, meet fellow likeminded crafters and be inspired! I have just created an account and have uploaded my first project - which details how I make my fabric book covers. Check out my profile (link on my blog page), I will upload more projects from time to time.
